It’s not the word apple which brought meaning to the brand Apple. It’s what the company Apple did that brought meaning to the word apple.
The same, of course, is true for every new name.
This is what I face as a professional namer – business / brand / domain. Many clients want names with meaning, some seeking Sanskrit words which have a particular connotation, for example.
Sometimes, I quote to them the above about Apple.
Yet it’s my job to coin names that would help the business / brand / domain gain easier traction to success.
It’s funny (pure fun, actually), but that’s the kind of contradiction we live with.
